SUMMARY:Wood intaglio
DESCRIPTION:Wood intaglio is a printmaking method that combines woodcut (relief) and intagio (engraving) processes to produce richly atmospheric backgrounds with contrasting strong lines. In this class students will learn what sorts of carved lines work best for intaglio printing\, and will design and carve their own wood blocks. In the second week students will learn how to prepare paper for intaglio printing\, how to modify ink and to ink up and wipe their block\, and print using the intaglio press. \nAll materials are provided\, including paper\, and you will make an edition of four prints No prior printmaking experience is necessary. \nIf you wish to prepare artwork in advance\, you can bring drawings or digital work printed out at home to fit a 6×8 inch woodblock. There will be time during class to prepare your artwork\, and we have plenty of collage materials and magazine photos to transfer from if you don’t like to draw. \nLimited to 4 participants. To secure your spot in the class\, a non-refundable deposit of 30% is required. Register in person at Levigator Press or call 519-991-4972. \nClass prices are subject to HST.
