Drypoint is a technique in intaglio printmaking in which lines are scratched into a metal plate with an engraving tool and printed onto dampened rag paper, producing an image of luscious soft linework. In this class we will create our drypoint plates using Plexiglas, and you will learn how to make textures and tones in addition to the distinctive drypoint lines to create a richly varied print.
All materials are provided, and you will make an edition of at least 5 prints. No printmaking experience is necessary.
You should come to class with a few ideas for your print, including a sketch or photocopies if possible (drawing ability is not required; bring a printout of a photo and we will show you how to turn it into a beautiful print). We will be working on 6×8″ plates, so any images you bring should fit into that size for easy transferring.
Space in the class is limited. To secure your spot in the class, a non-refundable deposit of 30% is required. Register in person at Levigator Press or call 519-991-4972, or click the button below to register and pay online.
Class prices are subject to HST.
