In this class you will learn the basics of typesetting and linoblock printing in order to create your own set of bookplates (ex libris labels) for your book collection. You will have the option of creating a fully hand carved design, creating a design exclusively from our wood and metal type and letterpress ornaments collection, or combining the two to create your own one-of-a-kind bookplate design.
This class combines two printmaking methods, and to allow for block carving and typesetting time it will run for three weeks on Wednesday evenings, January 3, 10, and 17, from 6:30 to 9pm.
No printmaking experience is necessary, and you will leave the class with 30 hand printed labels up to 3×4″ in size. All materials are provided, and you will have a choice of a few different lightweight papers to print your labels on. We will end with a discussion of different paste options for fixing your bookplates into your books.
Space in the class is limited, and a 30% deposit is required to secure your spot in the class. You can visit the studio or call 519-991-4972 to register, or click the REGISTER NOW button below to sign up and pay online.
