Making paste paper
Paste paper is a centuries-old technique used to create colourful, beautifully patterned papers for use as endpapers, doublures, and sometimes cover papers of hand bound books. A starch paste mixed with ink or pigment is brushed or scraped onto dampened paper and then painted or combed into intricate patterns. Bookbinding: hard cover stab binding (2-week class)
Stab binding is one of the simplest and earliest forms of bookbinding, using single sheets in which holes are stabbed or drilled and sewn on the outside using a variety of traditional stitch patterns.
In this class you will learn how to make a hard cover with a hinge, and create the decorative binding.
This class will run for two weeks on Monday evenings, July 18 and 25, from 7 to 9pm.
All materials are provided, including paper, and you will leave the class with a finished book.

In this fun class you will learn how to create beautiful marble patterns on paper. In paper marbling, paint is suspended onto the surface of specially prepared thickened water and combed or swirled into intricate patterns, then transferred onto sheets of paper. Wee box making (2-week class)
In this class you will learn how to make tiny lidded boxes for all of your precious little objects. We will cover measuring and planning your box, building the box parts, and covering the box with decorative paper. No experience is necessary.
This class runs for two weeks on Monday evenings, March 6 and 13, from 6:30-9:30pm.
Please bring a small object no larger than 2 inches in any dimension, and you will take it home inside a finished custom wee box! All materials are provided.
