Paste paper is a centuries-old technique used to create colourful, beautifully patterned papers for use as endpapers, doublures, and sometimes cover papers of hand bound books. A starch paste mixed with ink or pigment is brushed or scraped onto dampened paper and then painted or combed into intricate patterns. You can use the papers you make in this class not only in your bookbinding projects, but also for covering boxes, creating backgrounds for scrapbook pages, or making one-of-a-kind greeting cards.…

woodblockgraphene

Multi-block woodcut is a full colour printing method in which separate wood blocks are carved for each colour layer, allowing for a broader range of colour than the reductive method. In this four session class you will design and create an edition of six to ten woodblock prints using up to four separate colours. This is a fast paced class and we will get right into carving our blocks on the first day, so you should come prepared with an idea or a drawing for an 8×10 inch block.

This class runs Tuesday evenings for three weeks: May 17, 24, 31, and June 7, from 7-10pm.

No printmaking experience is necessary.

All materials, including paper, are provided.

If you enjoy making papercuts, this is a way that you can use that traditional method in printmaking!

All materials, including paper, are provided, and you will leave the class with at least one beautiful finished print. Depending on how you choose to prepare your plates you may have time to finish more than one print.
