We'll be at this year's Art In The Park at Walkerville's historic Willistead Manor, performing demonstrations in the many bookbinding methods we teach in our studio. All day long I will be teaching my co-op student, Aiyana, how to bind books, and you can watch, ask questions, and learn along with her. What's that? Worried about getting caught in the rain that famously plagues Art In The Park every year? Don't worry. We are inside the manor, where it's nice…

Open Studio is a chance for experienced printers, studio members, or anyone who has taken a class at Levigator Press to have affordable evening studio time to work on projects or just experiment with what you've learned in our studio. You pay a flat rate (equal to the cost of two hours regular press rental) for up to three hours of studio time in a fun group atmosphere. Studio proprietor Jodi Green will be on hand for advice and troubleshooting, and you'll have the company of other printers to bounce ideas off or get inspired by!
You must register for Open Studio in advance; space is limited, and how limited depends on what our participants are working on in any given session. We can accommodate more people screenprinting than letterpress printing, so early registration will ensure you get access to the equipment you need.

Find out more »Collagraphs (2-week class)
Collagraph is a printmaking method in which a collage is constructed onto a heavy card using paper, glue, and sand or grit, and then used as a matrix for printing. It's a satisfyingly tactile way to create a printing plate, and textures as subtle as simple torn or cut pieces of paper can achieve beautifully rich and varied printed marks. In the first week we will focus on creating the plate, and in the second week you will learn how to ink and press your plate and will make an edition of at least four prints.
This class runs for two weeks on Thursday evenings, June 23 and 30, from 6:30 to 9:30pm.
All materials are provided, including paper. No printmaking experience is necessary. This is an easy and fun introduction to printmaking, particularly for people who enjoy working in collage or cut paper.
