Coptic bookbinding (2 week class)
Learn how to make your own beautiful hardcover journal or sketchbook that fits easily into your bag, opens perfectly flat, and will quickly become your favourite book for writing and drawing on the go! You will have your choice of decorative papers to design your one-of-a-kind cover, and will have the option to wrap your book's sections with maps, blueprints, and other fun found papers.
This class runs for two weeks on Friday afternoons, October 4 & 11, from 1-3:30pm.
All materials are provided, and you will leave the class with a finished book.

Join us for a fun collage party! All materials are included, and you will receive one of our mixed paper collage packs (which you can dig into at the party or save for later), your choice of paper or bookboard* to use as a substrate, use of our studio tools, and free run of our vast collection of found and vintage papers, beautiful one-of-a-kind papers printed in our studio, fun picture books to cut up, rub-on letters, vintage clip-art, and more! We’ll also have stamp ink available for you to stamp your work with our collection of wood type and letterpress cuts. Come make something amazing with us!
This event is for ages 13+ only. All materials are provided, light snacks will be provided, and you will leave with a finished collage or enough materials to complete your work-in-progress at home.

Trace monotype is an easy and beautiful method for creating a mix of bold and delicate lines in your one-of-a-kind prints. It's very responsive to the artist's hand, giving a rich atmospheric quality to the image. In this class you will learn how to specially prepare oil based ink for trace monotype, and will create at least one beautiful print on Japanese paper (depending on the complexity of your image, you may have time to make more than one print).

In this fun experimental class you will learn the basics of pulling screenprints on paper using unprocessed screens and a combination of paper stencils and direct drawing techniques to create richly layered, beautiful prints. This is a great way to get your hands dirty in an easy, stress-free introduction to making screenprints without all the fuss of planning and prepping artwork.
All materials are provided, including paper, and you will make between 3 and 5 one-of-a-kind prints.
Find out more »Letterpress posters (2 week class)
In this fun class you will learn the basics of setting type, designing and printing your own 9×12″ letterpress poster. Use our collection of wood and metal types and ornaments to create your own unique design. If you have your own letterpress plates or carved linoblocks, those can be incorporated as well. You will print six posters using heavyweight white poster paper or your choice of several other fun colours we have in stock, and you will have the option to use more than one colour in your prints.
All materials are provided, and no printmaking experience is necessary. This class runs for two weeks on Wednesday evenings, October 9 and 16, from 7 to 9:30pm.
Find out more »Block printing on fabric (advanced: 2 week class)
In this class, students will design and carve their own lino block and learn how to print it on fabric in a repeating tile pattern. Week one will focus on design and block carving, and in week two you will print your fabric. You will go home with a beautifully printed piece of fabric to enjoy as is or to use in future projects.
This class runs for two weeks on Friday afternoons, October 18 and 25, from 1 to 3:30pm.
All materials are included. Students will have the choice of printing a one metre piece of 60" wide unbleached muslin fabric or one of a selection of other fabrics we have on hand in the studio.
Find out more »Letterpress greeting cards (2 week class)
In this hands-on introductory class you will learn the basics of setting type and designing your own unique cards using wood and metal type, our collection of antique letterpress ornaments and newspaper halftone blocks, linocut blocks and more!
All materials are provided (including envelopes for your cards!), and you will create a set of ten cards of your own design in your choice of paper colour.
This class runs for two weeks on Friday afternoons, October 19 & 26, from 1-3:30pm. You will design your cards and set type the first week and print the second week.

In this fun hands-on class you will learn the basics of hand papermaking and make your own beautiful sheets of paper to use in your art, craft, and bookbinding projects or simply to use as one-of-a-kind stationery. We will discuss tools and techniques for making pulp, and you will learn how to pull sheets from several different batches of high quality cotton paper pulp that's been prepared in advance for you.
All materials are provided and you will make at least 10-15 sheets of paper.
Find out more »Screenprint posters (2 week class)
In this class you will learn the basics of how to create a two-colour silkscreen print on paper. We will cover: making positives or transparencies, exposing images on a screen, how to register (line up) your printing, and pulling prints.
All materials are provided, including paper, and you will make an edition of at least six prints.
This class runs for two weeks on Monday evenings, October 21 & 28, from 7-9:30pm.

Screen & stitch (2 week class)
This class will teach you how to print and embellish your own custom fabric. In Week 1 you will learn how to pull silkscreen prints and create your own unique piece of richly layered printed fabric using hand cut stencils and screens prepared in advance with a collection of design elements you can layer in different ways. In Week 2 you will add depth and detail to your piece with some simple embroidery stitches.
All materials are provided and you will leave class with a beautiful piece of embellished fabric (you may not finish your stitching during class but we will get you well on your way!). No printmaking or embroidery experience is necessary, although a basic knowledge of hand sewing will help you get started.
This class runs for two weeks on Tuesday evenings, November 5 & 12, from 7-9:30pm.
