Reductive woodcut is a full colour printing method in which each successive layer of colour is carved and printed from a single sheet of wood. In this four-session class you will design and create an edition of six woodblock prints using up to four separate colours. This is a fast paced class and we will get right into carving our blocks on the first day, so you should come prepared with an idea or a drawing for an 8×10 inch block.
This class runs Monday evenings for four weeks: February 6, 13, 20, and 27, from 6:30-9:30pm.
No printmaking experience is necessary.
All materials, including paper, are provided.
If you have hand problems and are worried that cutting wood may be difficult for you, it’s possible to do the class using a linoleum block instead. Just let us know when you register so we know which type of block to prepare for you!
