Drinks Diary is a year long project documenting, in sketches, everything I drank (outside the home) in a tiny book. This exhibition showcases a selection of prints from the book, bringing them back to Phog Lounge, a drinking establishment and live music venue that features heavily in the project. Guest instructor Peter Olsen brings his comprehensive overview of basic calligraphy skills to Levigator Press in this fun class. Over the course of three weeks you will learn the basics of handling a calligraphy pen and practice a variety of letter styles including Upper and Lower Gothic, Book Hand, and Chancery Cursive. We will also touch briefly on methods of manuscript illumination.

Book arts: Paper marbling

In this fun class you will learn how to create beautiful marble patterns on paper. In paper marbling, paint is suspended onto the surface of specially prepared thickened water and combed or swirled into intricate patterns, then transferred onto sheets of paper. These lusciously patterned sheets were traditionally used in bookbinding, but you can also use your finished papers in scrapbooks, collages, greeting cards, or even just framed for the wall!
