Levigator Press at Walkerville Art Walk & Rock this weekend!

Friday, July 4 and Saturday, July 5 I’ll be taking part in the Luv Local Makers’ Market at Walkerville Brewery as part of the annual Walkerville Art Walk. Luv Local opens an hour earlier than the rest of the Art Walk on Friday night, so it’s a great place to kick off the event (while enjoying some of our fine local beers). I’ll have some brand new work, so if you’re in the area, come have a look!

Luv Local hours: Friday, July 4, 5pm to 9pm
Saturday, July 5, 11am to 5pm

Downtown Windsor farmers market

Levigator Press is teaming up with Mercantile 519 this summer for a few local events, starting with the Downtown Windsor Farmers Market which opened its 2014 season this past Saturday morning. We’ll be there again this weekend (Saturday, June 7) and then will be back there every Saturday from September 6 until the end of the Market season. Check out the Events tab to see all of our market dates, and keep an eye out for other events we’ll be announcing soon!

The market was bustling with around 40 vendors present, up from 15 at the previous year’s opening day. The morning was warm and sunny, the food was delicious, the shoppers were all lovely people with handsome children and adorable puppies. It really was a perfect market day.

Levigator Press debuted a new line of summer scarves in woodblock printed, lightweight breezy fabrics. We’ll get a few posted to the Etsy shop this week, but if you’re in the Windsor area, come see us at next week’s market!

surprise party in the snow!

surprise-small

Here is something that Peter and I have been working on for the past couple of weeks: Surprise Party in the Snow. It’s the drawings that I make in my little notebook while sitting in bars or in my Spanish class, using ball point pens, highlighter markers, and gel pens, all cleaned up and made into a single panel web comic. It’ll be updated intermittently, at least once a week, for as long as bars and Spanish class keep yielding up good overheard phrases. Don’t expect jokes, or narrative, or even accurate Spanish (I’m still learning!).

Enjoy! clicky-click –> Surprise Party in the Snow

new scarves

We’ll be debuting these in person at the Made in Windsor Holiday show, but have posted a few in our Etsy shop in the meantime. They’re nice big triangles of soft jersey, printed with woodblocks and finished off with contrasting fabric binding.

sneak peek: new line of levigator press bandannas!

bandannas

The first design in a new line of screenprinted bandannas, featuring artwork created exclusively for Levigator Press by our talented illustrator friend Mary MacVoy (see more of Mary’s work here: marymacvoy.com). We debuted the line at the Roller Derby Association of Canada Eastern Regional tournament last weekend, with great success. Stay tuned for these lovelies to appear in our Etsy shop just as soon as we manage to take the mannequin out for some beauty shots.

news

I am pleased to announce that as of February 1st 2013 I will be joining the fine folks at Back Room Gallery Artists Co-op. Back Room is a lovely little gallery located in the Pillette Village neighbourhood of Windsor, located at 4749 Wyandotte St. E. It’s a place where I can show and sell my work and get out of the studio on occasion to work gallery shifts, but even more exciting is that I will be able to use the large, bright gallery space to host events and workshops. Look for a series of bookbinding and printmaking workshops for spring 2013 to be announced soon!

welcome to levigator press!

Levigator Press is a one-woman printmaking, bookbinding and clothing production studio located in the Walkerville neighbourhood of Windsor, Ontario, Canada. We use antiquated hand printing techniques (mostly woodblock printing, but also letterpress, screenprinting and others) to produce one-of-a-kind hand bound journals and handmade accessories and clothing using reclaimed and repurposed materials.

We’ve created this site to separate out the studio business from our personal website, and to provide updates about what’s happening in the studio in a place where you won’t have to wade through piles of photos of breakfast and cats and silly things we see downtown in order to fulfill all of your Levigator Press needs. Whew! If you really want to see photos of breakfast, cats and silly things seen downtown, please feel free to continue following the personal weblog: Jodi’s Weblog.

Please excuse the ugliness of the site while we muddle our way through a new wordpress installation and a new design and all of that. We just couldn’t wait until it was all lovely and perfect to start bringing you the Levigator Press.
