Block print on fabric class

We just had our final class of 2015, another session of our Block Print on Fabric class. Once again we had four friends sign up for the class together, which was a fun way to end the year. Here are a few images of their printing:

Hard cover stab bookbinding class

Here are a few images of our most recent session of our two-week Hardcover Stab Bookbinding class. These books are approximately 8.5 by 6 inches, with hinged covers of library buckram book cloth and block printed end papers.

This evening in the studio

notecardsprinting

Some private instruction clients came in tonight to print some personalized note cards for holiday gifts. Using our decorative capitals, pictured below, and luscious Cranes Lettra letterpress paper, they printed sets of 20 cards for each of about six family members in two hours! They looked so good I think I’m going to borrow their idea and make some similar notecards for a special person in my own family.

Block print on fabric class

Here are just a few images from last night’s class. The students were five members of one family who signed up together, which made for a super fun night! I’ll show you a few more images of their finished fabrics once the inks are dry; they made some really lovely pieces!

Today in the studio: private instruction session

denali2

We had a grade 8 student in this week working on some prints to include in her application portfolio for the WCCA programme at Walkerville Collegiate. She learned how to make screenprint separations, how to cut a lino block, and how to print both, and created a lovely set of three-colour prints with two layers of screenprint and one layer of block print.
